Japanese follows some of the same rules of english when speaking, it sounds weird to us since mandarin is a tonal language that doesn't carry emotion in a way we easily recognize.

It's surprising how bad A LOT of these Chinese subtitle translations are

I imagine this is the same thing 90's-00's translations looked like for JP anime (technically the only anime but I'm not gonna nitpick), gotta wait a decade or two for a proper network of translators to be formed for mandarin. Although I'm sure it should happen much sooner since anime has paved a path for translation networks.

You both forgetting this an anime and they have to make it entertaining, regardless if dude handled the fight faster in the manhwa/hua or not. He doesn’t look weak either, (from someone who just found out about this series) he actually is busted off the first episode.
